NATIVE FOODS  |  SUNSHINE COAST

The Sunshine Coast Food features some wonderful native food grown and produced on the Sunshine Coast and Surrounds. Native food is gaining an enormous amount of interest, both locally and internationally and it is currently seeing the growth of quite a unique industry of seeds, fruit, leaves and nuts and value add products. Chefs are becoming braver and a number of dedicated individuals are educating the consumers on how to use these wonderfully unique flavours in everyday applications as well as making them aware of their cultural and nutritional importance. Amongst the native foods grown on the Sunshine Coast are the native fingerlime, which are growing in popularity, as well as native plums, quandongs, lemon myrtle, wattleseed and a range of others. Visit the growers websites and see all of the wonderful native produce available.

There are also some fabulous value adds. The most creative would be the Rainforest Liqueurs. The jams, conserves and native food influenced condiments are definitely worth seeking out and trying.
